Landscape & FigureHistorically, the landscape and figure, respectively, have been two fundamental themes in painting. In abstract painting, these themes are represented through their respective pictorial essences. For example, a painting can be said to be figurative if it contains elements that are derived from real object sources. Similarly, landscape painting, in an abstract sense, usually includes an element of weather. In this series of works, I wanted to merge the landscape and figure by obliterating their boundaries. I wanted the forms in each picture to be interlocking and yet, without definition. |
